This is a very fun and only service in secondary 3 life. Before I go to the mental hosptial, I think that the patient is not very easy to communicate as I went to IMH before and experience it.
However, during the event when wanted to communicate with them, It was easiler than I though compare to last time I went it before. If there is a chance for my group to go again, I would hope to change about the planning for the patient. I think that we should plan the order of the thing for the patient and let everyone in the group to know during on the way to IMH or before the planning was excuted. I would also wish to have the part where we get together to eat those food as we can have sometime to think about what went wrong or what thing we have done when we are eating. When I am working with the whole group, I would I like to make a comment on Joan. She may be a bad or lousy leader but as she did her best as being a leader as this is the first time I see her being a leader in secondary school. In my group, I think that benefiting the community thorugh the project is more important as we sure will learn something when we are doing things. When we benefit the community, the community may be happy but we did help them and I think when we help them, we will also feel happy about it and I think happiness also the most important

My first impression of IMH was okay, it does not look like a mental hospital,it look like a normal hospital to me.When i reached IMH together with my friends,i felt a little worried,at the same time a little happy.I was worried that when we were playing some games, one of the patients will went crazy and try to kill us but of course they did not, otherwise we would all be dead.As we start out and get ready for the games,i was amazed, they were following our instruction without fail.Although we had to explained a few more times sometimes, but it was worth it,given time, they will actually learn lots of new skills(with the help from the IMH,Nurses,Doctors and us),well, more haste less speed. They looked like they enjoyed the games we organised. And sometimes if one of us dont give them a ball for basketball game, they will go "emo" until we pass them the ball.We had a hard time explaining/communicating with them but in the end,we did it.The IMH patients were very friendly and always give us a warm welcome before entering the wards. After the game,we went to have mini-celebration with the patients,i believe they enjoyed themselves as much as we do.i do not know about the others, but i did not regret going IMH for CIP.That day, they really did open my eyes,i am sure all of us feel proud of them.I believe they can recover from these illness as given chance, they surely will want to live a normal like us.

Well going to IMH was a good thing as we when there to help the others. When I hear Mr Goh saying that we are going to play games with the people at IMH I was feeling a bit of worry as I am not sure if I could communicate with them a not but I did. When we went there on our second visit, I was thinking that how are we going to handle if there was any situation that suddenly pop up but there was not and they are like normal like us who just want to have fun, enjoy themselves and meet new friends. Some of them could even play better then us when comes to Basketball. After the whole thing has come to an end, I think to myself that sometime in life, we need to learn to treasure things and don't take things for granted as not every one was lucky enough to have a second chances but i know that i have learn not to take things for granted and being more patient to people who should have been respect.I have learn a lot like team work during the telematch where we are cheering for our own team. ^.^ Well I just wish that those people living in IMH right now would have enjoy what we have done for them and our self.I will never forget the whole experience there. ^.^!

My first impression on the patients in IMH is that they are really restricted to a ward in the hospital and not allowed to come out. The event that changed my views about them was when they we playing the games, because they were very attentive when we were telling them about the instructions. They look really happy when they were throwing the basketballs into the ring so i thought they were really interested in it. If i were to go there again i would do maybe the same thing and bring them out to have fun. Our group should really improve on the planning as we were actually slow on the planning. The person who had changed my view about him is Yong Hao as he really like participating in the game and was really interested as the patients did. I thing both benefiting the community and learning new things and sharing with others equally important as by helping the community, for this case, the patients of IMH, they actually enjoyed themselves during the games and the food we brought over. Also by learning new things we can share with each other and reflect on each other.

Before the trip to Imh ,
my impression on the mental patients will be
keep in individual 'Cushioned Room'.
They will mumble to themselves ,with their messy hairdo.
Acting like abnormal people and do things that will surprise us.
But i was totally wrong with my thoughts, they lived their life just like us.
One of the event that made me changed my impression on them was when we were playing telematch at the basketball court.
They are not as what i had thought and had coperated well with us.
Like when jerrold requested the patients to form into rows of five,
they quickly moved into their positions.
If there was opportunity for us to go again ,
i believe our group will do another round of telematch
to boast their confidence level and helps them in their recovery.
One thing that our group can improved on was communication.
I can see that our group membes have very little good speakers
and we are shy to speak to them.
One of the person who changed my view for her was Shufei.
Because of this Service Learning Project ,
She took the effort to prepare the refreshment and games stuff.
Like sewing the bag of beans for the telematch usuage.
To me , i choosen benefiting the community is more important as
we are able to make a change for the patients.

A change for hope , love and joy !
Visitors like us are there to chat with them , concern about them and share our precious moment together.
Before our class agreed to go Imh ,
Mr Goh gave us 2 choices , Insitute Mental Hospital or Old Folk's Home.
I thought that my classmate will choose to go old folks home rather than imh
as given their characters my classmate may play a prank or make fun of the patients.
To my surprise , they had choosen to go to imh and not only did they friendly to the patients
and they put in alot of effort to make them happy.
This had changed my view on them.

My impression about the mental patients before the project was that i'm afraid they will think that what we'd plan for them..and that they will be more difficult to communicate. But when i reach there, i found out that they are just like us, easy to communicate and they enjoyed a lot for what we had planned for them. One event that will change my impression of them is the "ping pong "game...they listen to our instructions and they understood them fast. And that they are also very active and are willing to co-operate.If i and my group were to go again i would love to organise more games like volleyball.=) One thing that i think our group need to improve on is that not to talk to one another when some of us are explaining and that we should communicate more to the patients.
During this project, i realise that Rayner actually do things seriously when it was needed and he did well by communicating much with the patients. In my opinion i think that learning new things for ourself and share with others are more important as we could share our experience with other people who had yet to go there. We could also learn being a helpful and caring self.Overall i think we did well and i believe all of us had learn some things!=D
